The young wonderer, you might ask, “Must everything start out important to be important or can something become important?” Join him on his quest to find the answer. Written in seven parts to be read each night in the week before Christmas, the little wonder's story will touch your heart.

The author. Karla Layden was multi-talented: she sang, wrote stories, ministered. In 1995 she wrote a Christmas story and asked Kim Williams to illustrate it. Karla passed away in 2015, and the story and illustrations made their way back to Kim as Karla had wished. Now in her memory we are sharing the story. Those who knew her will surely recognize her voice and heart in each word.

Karla lost her battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but thanks to her writing her star still guides many. She was an active participant in Memorial Sloan Kettering’s “Visible Ink” program, which offers patients the opportunity to express themselves in writing with the individual support of an experienced writing mentor. While Visible Ink operates under the aegis of MSK, its sole funding is through grants and donations.

Like the young wonderer, you might ask, “Must everything start out important to be important or can something become important?” Even a donation that seems unimportant, added to other donations, becomes important.
